In 2025, the U.S. government introduced a new $100,000 fee for new H-1B visa petitions, effective September 21, 2025. This fee applies only to new petitions filed after the effective date not to renewals or petitions filed earlier. The goal is to raise funds and potentially discourage misuse of the H-1B program.

The base filing fee increased from $460 to $780.

The fraud prevention fee and ACWIA fee still apply based on employer size.

The new asylum program fee ($600) now applies to most employment-based petitions.
