Unauthorized work may lead to denial of adjustment unless the applicant is an immediate relative of a U.S. citizen.

Minor unauthorized employment can sometimes be forgiven under INA 245(c)(2) for certain categories.

Filing Form I-765 (work permit) with the I-485 allows legal work once the EAD is approved.

If caught, the individual may be barred from adjustment and referred for removal proceedings depending on the case.
