As a U.S. citizen, you can sponsor each of your parents for a green card as “immediate relatives,”. You’ll need to file a separate Form I-130 for each parent, along with documents proving your relationship and your U.S. citizenship. If your parent is abroad, the case proceeds through consular processing, while those lawfully in the U.S. may file Form I-485 to adjust status without leaving the country.

Being a U.S citizen, you are required to file a separate Form I-130, for each parent you intend to sponsor. Along with each petition, you must include proof of your U.S. citizenship, such as a U.S. birth certificate, naturalization certificate, or valid U.S. passport, as well as evidence of your parent-child relationship, such as your birth certificate showing your parent’s name. Additionally, you must submit Affidavit of Support, demonstrating that your income meets or exceeds the Federal Poverty Guidelines to show that you can financially support your parent.

If your parents are lawfully in the U.S., they may be eligible to adjust status by filing Form I-485 along with Form I-130, allowing them to remain in the U.S. during processing.
