Should I apply for H4 and EAD with H1B job change to avoid gaps? My wife's standalone H4 EAD application has been pending with USCIS since November 2024. She is currently working under the automatic 540-day extension, which is valid until July 2026. I am planning to transition to a new employer on an H1B visa in the next couple of weeks, using premium processing. Should we apply for H4 and H4 EAD concurrently with my H1B application? We are concerned about potential employment gaps for my wife if her existing EAD application is denied before the new one is approved, and we want to ensure she can continue working without interruption.

That seems like a smart thing to do

Yes, I think you should apply concurrently but you should confirm with an attorney
