Refugees and asylees may apply for lawful permanent residence (a green card) after being present in the US for a certain period of time

Any person who provide evidence of persecution on their country based on political opinion, religion, race, nationality or membershion in a particualr social group may qualify for asylum. For green card, any person who is admisible under the Immigrationa and Nationality Act.
