What if I get divorced before getting my green card?

If you divorce before getting your green card, your case might be denied and also you may not qualify if your green card is based only on marriage.

If the marriage was real, you may still be able to apply on your own or you can try to get a green card through VAWA if there was abuse.

If you already have a conditional green card, you may still apply to remove conditions alone, but you’ll need strong proof that your marriage was real, not fake.

If you have kids or shared a life together, that helps show it was real, you may be eligible for another type of visa or green card.
