What happens if you divorce after you got a green card through marriage? Does it mess up your status?"

I’ve seen this happen to someone I know. If you’re on a conditional green card, you’ll have to convince immigration that your marriage was genuine, even if it ended. For permanent green card holders, it’s less of an issue, but it could still raise questions during naturalization

It depends on the type of green card you have. Conditional green card holders need to show proof the marriage was real to keep their status. If you’ve got a permanent green card, divorce doesn’t affect your residency, but it could make naturalization a bit trickier.
