If your green card is denied during the adjustment of status process, you may lose your ability to remain in the U.S. legally, especially if your underlying visa has expired

If your adjustment of status gets denied, it can be serious, but it’s not always the end of the road. Depending on your situation, you might be able to file an appeal or motion to fix whatever issue caused the denial. If you’re no longer in valid status, there’s a risk of being asked to leave the U.S. or even facing removal proceedings. That’s why it’s super important to talk to a lawyer as soon as possible if this happens.
