Is it possible to work in the U.S. while waiting for my green card application to be approved?

You can work while waiting for your green card only if you have a valid work permit (EAD).

Unless you already hold a visa that permits employment or have an approved EAD, working is not allowed.

Yes, if you applied for adjustment of status and received your EAD, you're allowed to work legally in the U.S.
