I missed my immigration court hearing years ago. Can I fix my status now?

If you missed your court hearing, the judge likely issued an automatic removal (deportation) order against you.

 If it’s been less than 180 days, you might still be able to file a motion to reopen the case if you had a valid reason for missing court (e.g. sickness, not getting the notice).

 If you never received the hearing notice (and can prove it), you may qualify to have your case reopened at any time, even years later.

You’ll need to file a motion to reopen with the immigration court and provide evidence of why you missed court and why you now qualify for relief (like asylum, marriage to a citizen, etc.).
