How do I apply for a green card through marriage?

First, your U.S. citizen or green card holder spouse must file Form I-130 Petition for Alien Relative for you.

If you are already in the U.S., you can usually file Form I-485 Adjustment of Status at the same time as the I-130.

The U.S. citizen spouse must also file Form I-864 (Affidavit of Support) to show they can financially support you.

You must prove your marriage is real not just for immigration this means showing documents like photos, leases, bank accounts, etc.

If you’ve been married less than 2 years when approved, you’ll get a conditional green card valid for 2 years.
