You can apply for a program extension, change your visa status, or transfer schools—act early to avoid falling out of status.

Your F-1 visa can expire, but your status is based on the I-20 form and your school attendance as long as you're in school, you're usually still in legal status.

If you're about to graduate, you can apply for OPT, which lets you work in your field of study for up to 12 months.

You may extend your visa, transfer to another school, or apply for a different status. Start the process now to maintain legal stay.
