I’m on an H-1B visa, but I just got laid off. How long do I have to find another job before I have to leave the U.S.?

You have a 60-day grace period from your last working day to find new employment

A new employer must file an H-1B transfer within that period to maintain your status

If you’ve been laid off on an H-1B visa, you usually have 60 days to find a new job or switch your visa before you need to leave the U.S.

You have 60 days from the day you were laid off to find a new job or change your visa status before leaving the U.S.
