I'm an F-1 student and want to pursue Optional Practical Training (OPT) after graduation. What are the requirements and benefits?

You must be in valid F-1 status and have completed at least one academic year at a U.S. school to be eligible for OPT.

You can apply up to 90 days before graduation and no later than 60 days after, but the earlier, the better to avoid delays.

You must file Form I-765 with USCIS and get approved before starting work you’ll receive an EAD (Employment Authorization Document) card.
