sorry for the long answer but it should answer your questions

The U.S. Citizenship test is typically administered as part of the naturalization interview process conducted by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Here’s an overview of how the test is given:

  1. Scheduling the Interview – After submitting the naturalization application (Form N-400) and meeting all eligibility requirements, applicants receive a notice from USCIS scheduling their naturalization interview, which includes the citizenship test.
  2. Naturalization Interview – During the naturalization interview, a USCIS officer reviews the applicant’s Form N-400 and verifies the information provided. The officer also assesses the applicant’s ability to read, write, speak, and understand English and evaluates their knowledge of U.S. history, government, and civics.
  3. English Language Test – If required, applicants must demonstrate their English language proficiency by reading and writing sentences in English. The USCIS officer evaluates the applicant’s ability to understand and respond to questions in English during the interview.
  4. Civics Test – The USCIS officer administers the civics test, which consists of up to 10 questions randomly selected from the list of 100 civics questions provided by USCIS. Applicants must answer at least six out of 10 questions correctly to pass this portion of the test.
