Can I apply for U.S. citizenship if I have been living abroad for an extended period while holding a Green Card?

Yes but extended periods of living abroad may affect your continuous residence requirement. You must have lived in the US for at least 30 months out of the 5 years before applying, or 18 months if applying based on marriage to a citizen. Long trips abroad might affect this, but reentry permits can help.
