Can a person with a Green Card apply for U.S. citizenship if they have been living abroad for an extended period?

A green card holder may face problems when applying for U.S. citizenship if they have lived abroad for too long. Because continuous residence in the U.S. is a requirement for naturalization.

I'm not sure they can get it. The person is supposed to have been residing in the US for a long period before they can apply for citizenship.
