My green card was approved, but I have to travel back to Afghanistan for family emergency before it arrives. Can I leave the U.S., or will I have problems returning?

If you leave before getting your green card or a travel document, you might not be let back in. Talk to an immigration lawyer ASAP about getting advance parole.

If you travel without your green card or advance parole, you may not be allowed back into the U.S. Best to speak with an immigration solicitor before making any plans.

I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. If you leave without your green card or advance parole, you might not be allowed back in. Please speak to an immigration attorney right away.
