I’m planning to travel to the United States from Russia, and I want to bring my pet with me. I’ve never done international travel with an animal before, and I’m unsure what requirements or documents are needed. Are there vaccinations, permits, or quarantine rules I need to follow? What should I prepare in advance to make sure my pet can enter the U.S. safely and legally without any issues at the border?

Your pet will need a valid health certificate issued by a licensed veterinarian. Vaccinations, especially rabies, are typically required for entry.

Any extension depends on your visa type and program rules. Applications must be filed before your status expires. Overstaying can affect future U.S. travel.

Prepare all documentation in advance, including vaccination records, health certificates, and import permits if required. Ensure your pet meets airline carrier standards for safe travel. Arrive at the airport early to handle any inspection procedures. Consulting an experienced pet relocation service or immigration advisor can simplify the process and reduce stress for both you and your animal.
