I recently arrived in Florida from abroad and I’m still getting settled. What are some important immigration-related steps I should take right away to stay compliant and build a stable life here?

If you entered as an immigrant, make sure to check the status of your green card and Social Security card; these should arrive by mail within the first few weeks. If anything is delayed, you can contact USCIS or the SSA.

You must report your U.S. address to USCIS within 10 days of moving in using Form AR-11. This is required for nearly all non-citizens and helps ensure you don’t miss important notices.

Gather your immigration documents, set up a bank account, and begin collecting proof of U.S. residence, like utility bills or lease agreements. These will be important if you apply for work, benefits, or future immigration status updates.
