I arrived from Turkey just last week on a B-2 tourist visa and I’m now staying with relatives in Louisiana. On my second day here, I got into a minor car accident where someone else ran a red light and hit the vehicle I was in. Thankfully, no one was badly injured, but I had to give a police report and now I’ve been contacted by an insurance company. I’m worried this incident could affect my immigration status or get me into legal trouble. Do I need to report anything to immigration? Can being involved in an accident jeopardize my visa?

Being in a car accident doesn't impact your visa status as long as you weren’t at fault or violating any laws. There’s nothing you need to report to immigration.

Accidents happen, and unless you were driving without a license or caused the crash, your immigration status shouldn’t be affected. Just cooperate with the insurance process and keep copies of any reports. Immigration authorities don’t need to be notified for situations like this.

No, you don’t need to report the accident to USCIS or CBP. Traffic incidents aren’t immigration violations. It’s smart to keep a copy of the police report and any communication from the insurance company, just for your records. As long as you continue to follow the conditions of your B-2 visa (like not overstaying or working), this won’t harm your status. If anything becomes more complicated legally, speak with both an attorney and your consulate for guidance.
