The EB-3 visa application process begins when a U.S. employer sponsors you for a job. The employer must first get a certified labor certification (PERM) from the Department of Labor. Afterward, the employer files Form I-140 with USCIS. Once the petition is approved and your priority date is current, you can apply for lawful permanent residence through Form I-485 if you're in the U.S., or through consular processing at a U.S. embassy or consulate abroad.
