Hi everyone, I need help. I had my U.S. immigrant visa interview on July 21, 2025. My case was under F2A (my mom was a green card holder), but at the interview they upgraded me to F1 (F11) since she became a U.S. citizen. Now my case isn’t current anymore, and they didn’t issue the visa. I heard I can opt out of the F1 upgrade and stay in F2A to move faster. if anyone knows another way out, since F11 is moving very slowly, please let me know. Thanks for any advice

You are correct that the Child Status Protection Act (CSPA) allows certain applicants to "opt-out" of the automatic conversion from the F2B category

Before opting out, compare the current F2A (or F2B) and F1 priority dates in the most recent Visa Bulletin to see if it would be beneficial.

Since your case is at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate overseas, ask the embassy to submit a request on your behalf. They will forward it to USCIS and will only process your application in the F2B
