Arriving in the United States on a visitor visa felt like a short pause from everything happening back home, but the war with Russia changed those plans completely. Conditions never stabilized enough for me to return safely, and over time my legal stay expired. Now I am undocumented and constantly worried about what could happen next. I did not plan to stay this way, but going home still feels dangerous and uncertain. What options might exist for someone whose status lapsed because returning was not realistically possible?

You may have options depending on when you entered and what risks you face if you return. Humanitarian protections like asylum or temporary relief may apply if you can show personal danger. Timing is important, especially for asylum-related filings. Speaking with an immigration attorney quickly can help you understand whether relief is still available.

Being undocumented does not erase your right to due process. Any enforcement action must still go through legal procedures.

Getting legal advice before taking any steps can prevent permanent damage to future options.
