After spending some time in the United States building a more stable routine, I am starting to think about what the next stage of my immigration journey should look like. I am originally from Ethiopia, and I want to make sure I am following the rules while exploring options that could help me stay longer or adjust my status. There are many different pathways, and I am unsure which ones apply to someone in my situation. What should I be paying attention to, and how do I know which route makes sense for me?

The right path depends on your current status, your background, and whether you qualify for family, humanitarian, or employment options. Each pathway has different timelines and requirements.

If you have strong ties in the U.S., you can explore adjustment avenues that align with your situation. Humanitarian options may exist if returning to Ethiopia puts you at risk. Speaking with a legal professional can help you narrow things down.

It helps to gather documents showing your identity, history, and purpose for staying. Clear records make it easier to evaluate eligibility. Trying to navigate everything alone can be overwhelming, so getting guidance early is useful.
