What do I have to show to extend my stay in USA to one year with visitor visa?

They will ask for a serious reason why you have to stay longer than 6 months. It can be medical-related

Yes give a valid reason for staying, but you have to show you have the means to cover the cost for the additional period. You can also show them proof that will return back to your country
