Will receiving Medicaid affect my green card application?

If your U.S. citizen children or spouse are using Medicaid, it does not affect your own green card case.

You still need to show that you’re not likely to rely on government assistance, usually through an Affidavit of Support (Form I-864) from a sponsor.

If you are using Medicaid for long-term care in an institution, it might raise red flags in a green card review.

If you received emergency Medicaid, this would not count against your application.
