What is the grace period for H1B visa holders if they lose their job, and how can they maintain legal status during this time?

The H-1B program provides a 60-day grace period to employees who are laid off, terminated, or resign from their positions to find a new job or apply for a change of status.

If your employment ends, your H1B status becomes invalid. A new H1B Visa is necessary for a change of employer. If your visa expires without renewal, you have a 10-day grace period to depart the US or apply for an extension.

You will have a 60-day grace period to find a new job or change your status after losing your job.
