What happens if we get married abroad before the K-1 is issued?

The K-1 visa will be denied or canceled once you're legally married, you no longer qualify as a “fiancé(e)” under U.S. immigration law.

You'll apply for an immigrant visa CR-1 or IR-1 through the U.S. embassy in the country where you married.

No need to marry within 90 days K-1s must marry in the U.S. within 90 days this rule doesn’t apply with a spousal visa.

You must file a new petition Form I-130 instead of a K-1, your U.S. spouse must now file a spouse petition for a green card.
