You must first file Form I-130 Petition for Alien Relative with USCIS to start the process.

You need to prove your marriage is real by submitting documents like a marriage certificate, photos, and shared finances.

Once the I-130 is approved, your spouse can apply for a green card either inside the U.S. (adjustment of status) or through a U.S. consulate abroad (consular processing).

You must also file Form I-864 (Affidavit of Support) to show you can financially support your spouse.

If your spouse is in the U.S. legally, they can often file Form I-485 (green card application) at the same time as the I-130.
