If you are on a student visa and wanna stay in the U.S. after you graduate, in my opinion, I think you got a few options to switch to a work visa:

You can try apply for OPT, which lets you work for about 12 or 24 months in something related to what you studied.

H-1B Visa: After OPT, lots of students go for an H-1B, but you need a boss to sponsor you for that.

O-1 Visa: If you are very good at something, you might be able to get an O-1 visa.

Work-Based Green Cards: Sometimes, bosses can sponsor you for a green card, but that takes more time.

If you on a student visa and want work visa after you finish school, you can try to get a job with an employer who will give you H-1B visa.
