Please help me, I'm a U.S. permanent resident but I have been outside the country for 6 months. Can I re-enter the U.S?

You may obtain a re-entry permit before returning to the U.S. to demonstrate that you didn't abandon your permanent resident status

If you've been outside the U.S. for an extended period, you may need to apply for a returning visa (SB-1) at a U.S. embassy or consulate before re-entering the country
