My husband and I had our green card marriage interview last week, and they separated us. We answered some questions differently. What happens now?

It’s actually pretty normal to feel nervous—officers may compare your answers closely. If there are major inconsistencies, they might request a second interview or more evidence of your relationship.

Don’t panic. I know for a fact that this happens often. They’ll just review both interviews and then maybe ask for more proof. Try to be honest. Also be ready to clarify if they follow up.

If you and your husband answered questions differently during the separated interviews, the USCIS officer may request additional evidence or schedule a second interview to verify the authenticity of your marriage, potentially delaying your green card process
