I’ve overstayed my tourist visa by 6 months. Will I be deported immediately if I try to leave the U.S. for my home country?

You won't get deported right away, but if you overstay by 6 months, you might get banned from coming back to the U.S. for 3 years after you leave.

If voluntarily leave U.S. before deportation proceedings begin, you won’t face immediate removal. However, because you've overstayed for more than 180 days, you may be subject to a three-year re-entry ban
