Apply for Advance Parole (Form I-131) before leaving the US.

Do not leave the country until Advance Parole is approved.

If you're on a pending adjustment of status and travel internationally without proper authorization (like an Advance Parole document), you risk being denied re-entry to the US or having your application abandoned.
