I was denied asylum. Can I still marry and adjust my status?

Yes, you can still marry a U.S. citizen and try to adjust your status, even after an asylum denial.

 Your marriage must be bona fide (real and not just for immigration), and you’ll need strong evidence to prove it.

 Your U.S. citizen spouse should file Form I-130 (Petition for Alien Relative) this is the first step toward adjustment.

 You may be able to ask the judge to reopen your removal case to apply for marriage-based adjustment, especially if you now have an approved I-130.
