I was caught by ICE but released. Can I apply for a green card now?

Yes, you may be eligible, but it depends on your current immigration status, background, and reason for release from ICE custody.

If you're in removal proceedings, you’ll need to apply for your green card through the immigration court not USCIS.

If you qualify for asylum, U visa, or VAWA protections, these could also be paths to legal status even after being detained by ICE.
