How does having children born outside the U.S. affect my U.S. citizenship application, and can they also apply for citizenship?

Attorney

The fact that you have children outside the US will not affect your US citizenship application one way or the other. Unless your children have been granted permanent green cards just like you and reside in the US for the required period of 5 years they cannot apply for US citizenship. Regardless, you should list your children when you file your citizenship application.
