Does receiving public benefits affect my naturalization application?

Receiving public benefits does not automatically affect your eligibility for naturalization. USCIS does not consider most public benefits, such as Medicaid, food stamps (SNAP), or housing assistance, when evaluating naturalization applications

No need to worry, just getting public benefits won’t usually hurt your naturalization chances. USCIS doesn't count most types of assistance, like food stamps or Medicaid, against you when you apply for citizenship

Generally, not getting public benefits doesn’t block your naturalization. USCIS doesn’t hold that against you unless you got them through fraud or they tie into a bigger issue, like bad moral character
