My visa was refused under section 221(g). Is that a denial?

A refusal under section 221(g) is usually a temporary refusal, not a final denial. It means the officer requires additional documents or further review before making a final decision. Once you submit the requested information, the case can continue processing. The timeline depends on how quickly documents are provided and how long internal review takes.

Section 221(g) refusals are common and often procedural. Carefully follow the instructions provided by the consulate and submit exactly what is requested. Incomplete submissions can cause further delays. Once the officer receives and reviews the documents, the visa may be issued if all requirements are satisfied.
