My spouse is abroad, and I was granted asylum in the U.S. How can I bring my spouse to join me?

If you were granted asylum, you may file a petition for your spouse within two years of your asylum approval, unless there are exceptional circumstances. This process allows your spouse to obtain derivative asylum status and join you in the United States. You must provide proof of your relationship and evidence that the marriage existed before your asylum approval.

The process requires filing the appropriate petition and submitting supporting documentation, including marriage certificates and proof of identity. Processing times vary depending on the consulate and country conditions. It is important to act within the required timeframe and ensure all documentation is accurate to avoid delays or denials.
