My immigrant visa was approved at the interview but is now in administrative processing. What does this mean?

Administrative processing means the consulate needs additional internal review before issuing the visa. This can involve background checks, security clearances, or verification of documents. It does not automatically mean your case is denied. Processing times vary and can range from weeks to several months depending on the circumstances and country. Unfortunately, applicants generally must wait until the review is complete, as there is limited ability to expedite administrative processing.

When a case enters administrative processing, the officer has determined that further review is required before final approval. You may be contacted if additional documents are needed. It is important to monitor your case status online and respond promptly to any requests. While delays can be frustrating, many cases are eventually approved once internal checks are completed.
