My I‑131 got an update saying “we are reviewing your documents” even though I didn’t upload anything recently, is this something USCIS does randomly?

Yeah that happens once in a while and it doesn’t really mean anything is wrong, USCIS sometimes updates that message when they touch the file or sync things on their end even if you didn’t upload anything new, and most of the time the case just keeps moving normally after that.
