My husband’s asylum case was denied. Is it possible for me to file a separate petition for him since I recently became a U.S. citizen?

Yes, you may be able to reapply for asylum if your first application is denied if you meet certain conditions.

Yes, becoming a U.S. citizen allows you to petition for your husband to immigrate to the United States as an immediate relative, even if his asylum case was denied.

If you initially filed for your husband when you were a Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR) and have now become a U.S. citizen, you'll need to upgrade the petition from family-based second preference
