My H1B extension receipt finally showed up but the old case still looks frozen, is that how it usually plays out for everyone going through a similar mess?

Yeah that’s pretty normal with H1B stuff, the new receipt shows up first and the old case just sits there looking stuck for a while, and it doesn’t really mean anything’s off because USCIS takes their time closing out the older record even after the extension is already moving.
