My friend said it is possible to marry a US citizen and not become a citizen. Please is that possible? My fiancee is a citizen and I thought it would give me automatic citizenship

Your friend is right. You still have to meet the requirements

No, you don't get automatic citizenship just because you married a citizen.

It doesn't work that way. Immigration laws are strict and you must follow them

That would only encourage marriage fraud. You have to meet all the requirements. And the first step is to become a permanent resident before you can apply for citizenship.
