My employer is delaying filing my employment-based petition. Is there anything I can do to protect myself?

Delays from employers are unfortunately common. While you cannot force an employer to file, you can protect yourself by maintaining independent lawful status and documenting all communications. Having alternative plans is essential.

Sponsorship is voluntary, and employers may delay due to cost or uncertainty. Open communication helps, but you should not rely solely on verbal promises. Planning for visa expiration scenarios is critical.

Ultimately, your immigration future should not depend entirely on employer indecision. Exploring backup options and staying legally compliant gives you leverage and security.
