USCIS often works in bursts, so you’ll see one small update after a long quiet period and then nothing again while the case goes back into another queue. For many people, that first bit of movement just means the file was touched or reassigned, not that things will keep moving steadily right away. It’s frustrating, but the silence afterward doesn’t cancel out the progress you already saw, it’s just part of the uneven pacing most cases go through.
