I’ve been on an H-1B for a few years — can I go ahead and apply for a green card?

Yes — H-1B holders can pursue a Green Card through employment-based sponsorship if their employer files a petition (usually starting with PERM labor certification), and in some cases through family sponsorship if they qualify.

If you’re on an H-1B, you can definitely start the green card process most people do it through their employer sponsoring them, though family sponsorship could also be an option if you qualify.
