I’ve been a lawful permanent resident for 8 years—can I sponsor my fiancé from abroad before we marry?

No, as a lawful permanent resident, you must marry first before sponsoring your fiancé for a green card. Fiancé visas are only available to U.S. citizens.

I get it—you’re ready to bring your fiancé here. But as a green card holder, you’ll need to marry first before you can sponsor them. Fiancé visas are for U.S. citizens only.

No, only U.S. citizens can sponsor a fiancé. As a green card holder, you must marry first.
